The first Omega to venture onto the moon. Walter Schirra completed the “Sigma 6” mission with the Speedmaster ref. CK 2998 strapped tightly to the wrist. Now, 50 years on, the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch adopts all original characteristics from is ancestor, yet with 21st century refinements. The Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch bears a bold presence upon the wrist, Its 42mm diameter accommodates the pioneer’s famous manual-winding movement – the caliber 1861 with rhodium plated finish and a 48 hour power reserve.
The timepiece has undergone very few differences and continues to boast its beautiful varnished black dial with small seconds sub-dial, a 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder. A black bezel with tachymeter scale provides a classic feel, together with a sapphire crystal glass front with scratch-resistant qualities. The wearer can enjoy the Omega’s traditional black leather strap against the wrist – a timeless look for an instrument that will never age in style and grandeur.
